There is very little known information about Warrick’s son, including his name and age. Warrick and her son were enslaved by Hardy Murfree. Upon Murfree’s death, his estate and slave holdings were divided amongst his surviving relatives. Warrick was listed alongside her son in the estate settlement.[i] Both were placed under the ownership of Dr. James Maney.[ii] The boy and his mother were given a collective monetary value of two-hundred-twelve dollars and fifty cents.[iii] Warrick likely was taken from a father and other family members in North Carolina to work on the Maney plantation (present day Oaklands Mansion) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. There are no further records for Warrick’s son after 1814.
